Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a talk-based therapy, based on the theory that feelings, thoughts, what we do, and how our body feels are all connected with each other. If we change one of these aspects, we can alter others. So when you are going to a therapist and talking about your feelings, you are engaging in CBT.
CBT helps us figure out why we are feeling low or are unable to focus by finding out behaviour patterns which, simply put, is how you behave on a daily basis. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is most effective in the treatment of depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, panic, PTSD, bipolar disorder, psychosis and phobias (including agoraphobia and social phobia). Difficulties with sleep, anger management, low self-esteem and physical health problems such as chronic pain, can also be tackled by CBT.
Well you see, it’s not just talking. We have heard that speaking up is empowering. When you are talking about your feelings honestly, you and your therapist would work together to break down your problems and find an answer.
After working out what you can change, you can practice these changes in your everyday life. In CBT you lead the way for your healing. Your words matter and you, with the help of your therapist, can feel better and make better choices in your life. You deserve the best. We know it!
So what are you waiting for?
"All disease originates in the mind. Nothing appears on the body unless there is a mental pattern corresponding to it."
CBT has a very wide evidence base and is one of the most popular therapeutic approaches. In adults, CBT has been shown to have effectiveness and a role in the treatment plans for anxiety disorders, body dysmorphic disorder, depression, eating disorders, chronic pain, personality disorders, psychosis, schizophrenia, substance use disorders, in the adjustment, depression, and anxiety associated with fibromyalgia.
